Copa America : Lionel Messi se prononce sur son avenir après leur défaite face au Brésil
Battu par le Brésil en demi-finale de la Copa America, Lionel Messi a dissipé les craintes qu’il pourrait prendre sa retraite internationale.
L’Argentine s’est incliné 0-2 face au Brésil à Belo Horizonte en demi-finale, une défaite amère pour le quintuple vainqueur du Ballon d’Or qui n’a toujours pas remporté de trophée avec son pays.
Le mois dernier, Messi a mis en doute ses chances de disputer la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA 2022 au Qatar mais après une nouvelle déception sur la scène internationale, l’attaquant de Barcelone a confirmé son engagement envers son pays.
« Quelque chose de nouveau est à l’horizon. J’espère que nous serons respectés et non critiqués. Ils devraient laisser l’équipe grandir. La vérité, c’est que je m’entends très bien avec ce groupe de joueurs et si je dois aider d’une manière ou d’une autre, je le ferai. C’est un groupe qui grandit et si je peux aider et l’accompagner, je le ferai », a-t-il déclaré dans les propos relayés par le quotidien Olé.
Messi avait déjà pris sa retraite internationale en 2016, après la défaite de l’Argentine face au Chili en Copa America.
Il est ensuite revenu au bercail à temps pour aider son pays à se qualifier pour la Coupe du Monde en 2018, mais a laissé entendre à plusieurs reprises que son temps en sélection nationale touche à sa fin .
Messi est le meilleur buteur de l’histoire de l’Argentine, avec 68 buts.
