Maroc : Hervé Renard démissionne de son poste
Le Français Hervé Renard a annoncé dimanche sa démission en tant qu’entraîneur des Lions de l’Atlas.
Ces derniers n’ont pas été à la hauteur après leur sortie précoce à la CAN 2019.

Comme attendu, le Français Hervé Renard ne sera plus le coach des Lions de l’Atlas. Dimanche, le technicien français l’a annoncé lui-même.
« Il est temps pour moi de clore ce long et beau chapitre de ma vie, non sans une certaine émotion et tristesse, mais c’est une décision inéluctable prise bien avant la CAN 2019», explique l’entraîneur français dans un communiqué publié sur son compte Twitter. Hervé Renard n’a pas terminé en beauté avec les Lions.
Les Marocains figuraient parmi les sérieux prétendants au titre en Egypte. Les Lions de l’Atlas ont été sortis dès les huitièmes de finale par une surprenante équipe du Bénin. Hervé Renard et ses poulains avaient pourtant fait un sans-faute durant la phase de poules, terminant premiers de leur groupe devant la Côte d’Ivoire et l’Afrique du sud.
Arrivé sur le banc du Maroc en 2016, Hervé Renard était parvenu à qualifier le Maroc à une phase finale de Coupe du monde 20 ans après sa dernière participation. Les Marocains avaient été sortis au premier tour. A la CAN 2017, ils avaient été éliminés en quarts de finale. Le passage du technicien français au Maroc passe presqu’inaperçu, contrairement à ses piges avec la Zambie et la Côte d’Ivoire où il avait remporté une CAN avec ces deux sélections.
