Scandale/Industrie Cacaoyère : «Sur 100 milliards de dollars que génère le cacao seulement 5% reviennent aux producteurs. C’est un scandale, cette donne doit changer » (Aly Touré, représentant permanent ICCO)
La cérémonie d’ouverture de la 100ème session du conseil international du cacao a été présidée dans la matinée de ce mardi 10 septembre, à l’auditorium du centre de conférence du ministère des Affaires étranges, par le vice-président, Daniel Kablan Duncan.
Cette rencontre a été rehaussée par la présence de plusieurs personnalités dont le ministre du Commerce et de l’Industrie, Diarrassouba Souleymane, le président du Conseil international du cacao (ICCO), Philipe Fontayne, le porte-parole des producteurs, importateurs et transformateurs du cacao, Régis Meritan et le représentant permanent de l’ICCO, Aly Touré.
Plus d’une cinquantaine de producteurs, importateurs et transformateurs de cacao, venus des quatre coins du monde, ont pris part à cette rencontre d’Abidjan, dans le but de définir des stratégies de sauvegarde de la filière café-cacao, et surtout de prendre des mesures idoines pour l’amélioration du prix de ces produits aux fins d’en faire tirer profit aux producteurs.
Face aux défis auxquels se trouve confrontée l’industrie cacaoyère à savoir, le changement climatique, la valorisation du cacao, la volatilité des coûts et la promotion des produits du cacao, le Vice-président a invité l’ensemble des producteurs, transformateurs et tous les intermédiaires de l’industrie mondiale du cacao, à tout mettre en œuvre afin que le cacao puisse produire des revenus rémunérateurs aux producteurs.
Il a insisté sur la nécessité pour les acteurs de l’industrie cacaoyère à rechercher et trouver des solutions et alternatives durables à la problématique de la volatilité des coûts du cacao.
« Car un juste prix est indispensable pour favoriser la consommation sans décourager les producteurs. Il ne fait aucun doute que les producteurs et les consommateurs sont liés dans un partenariat gagnant-gagnant pour assurer la viabilité et la durabilité de l’industrie cacaoyère », a-t-il fait savoir. Selon lui, la durabilité de l’industrie cacaoyère est liée à ce que toutes les parties prenantes dans la filière puissent en tirer un revenu décent.
Au nom du collège des producteurs de Côte d’Ivoire, le représentant permanent de l’ICCO, a tenu avant toute chose, à remercier le gouvernement pour les efforts consentis pour la délocalisation du siège de l’ICCO à Abidjan en 2017, ainsi que des personnalités présentes qui ont contribué à la signature de l’accord de siège.
Selon lui, sur 100 milliards de dollars que génère l’industrie du cacao seulement 5% reviennent aux producteurs. « C’est un scandale », s’insurge-t-il. Au niveau de l’ICCO, le plan stratégique quinquennal qui sera adopté au cours de cette session ou plus tard et d’autre part grâce à l’accord entre la Côte d’Ivoire et le Ghana, « cette donne doit changer et elle changera », a-t-il promis.
